BOUFFAFOCUS (H 850 x ø16)

Le « bouffadou » était un instrument coutumier pour attiser le feu.
C’était un long tube de bois dans lequel on soufflait et qui permettait
de diriger l’air sur un point précis du foyer.
Bouffadou est la graphie francisée de l’occitan boufador, du verbe
« bouffar » qui signifie « souffler ». C’est aussi le nom général du soufflet
en occitan.
Focus revisite ainsi un objet traditionnel, voire légendaire, et propose
une version contemporaine du bouffadou, en acier noir.

A “bouffadou” was a traditional implement from the south of France
used for stoking a fire. It was a long, hollow wooden tube the user blew
into to deliver air directly to a specific location on the hearth.
The French word “bouffadou” is derived from the Occitan term
“boufador” (generally used to refer to a bellows), from the verb “boufar”,
which means “to blow”.
Focus has revisited the traditional, indeed legendary, bouffadou
138 to create a contemporary version in black steel.
